- Project Description
-
The "Harvesting Hope: Cultivating Community Through Gardening" PBL experience aims to create a school garden that helps students learn about sustainability and nutrition while bringing together the students, staff, and families at Sylvan Hills. Creating a schoolwide garden also connects with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in many ways. The planning and preparation phase aligns with SDG 4, Quality Education, by incorporating educational objectives that enhance students' understanding of environmental science and sustainability. It also supports SDG 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by establishing infrastructure that encourages innovative gardening practices, such as raised beds and sustainable irrigation systems.
