- Essential Question
- How can we remediate soil with mycelium and plant native mini-forests?
- Project Description
-
In Colorado, we have poor soil and increasing climate change-fueled disasters, such as our recent Marshall Fire. We lost many buildings but also thousands of trees to fire. Our big idea is to use nature-based climate solutions - improving our soil using mycelium and planting Miyawaki mini-forests to solve for heat islands. We put together a team of students, met with experts in our community, held a huge "Tree Summit" and we added mycelium to our soil. We are planting native trees in this soil, inspiring others and sharing our progress with our community!
